Everyone has an opinion, I would like to share mine about the movie “El Cantante”. First of all I would like to thank Marc and Jennifer for making such a movie possible. It is easy to sit back and criticize. Making a documentary and being truthful takes much work and effort. Marc and Jennifer are true artist as they captured the essence of who is Hector Lavoe and his legacy. How Hector is a major influence in Latin music and his survival during an error that was not easiest for Latinos. Go see the movie, it’s worth it and make your own opinion. Much congrats to Marc and Jennifer – excellent work, look forward in seeing much continued success.

It’s a bad film. The only reason one would go see it is to see Lopez and Anthony or if you knew who Hector Lavoe was and loved his music — in which case you will inevitably be disappointed. The film does not, in any way, do Lavoe justice as as a force in Latin music –.you can’t even enjoy a song, the clips were so short. Biopics take liberty with facts but what is questionable are the facts with which the director/writer chose to take liberty.
I think we’re beyond being grateful for anything that’s thrown up on the screen. It’s really important to look at form and content. This film is wanting in both.
THIS MOVIE IN MY OPPINION WAS GREAT..
IT DIDNT MATTER IF JENNIFER OR MARC WHERE THE STARS, WHAT MATTERS TO ME WAS THAT HECTOR LAVOE WAS RECONIZED FOR THE LOVE OF HIS MUSIC. EVERYONE ONE MAY HAVE A THERE OWN OPPINON ON THE MOVIE BUT THATS FINE.. WHEN I WAS A LITTLE GIRL, MY GRANDMOTHER WAS ALWAYS BLASTING HIS MUSIC , JUST BROUGHT CHILLS TO ARMS THAT DIDNT STOP!! EVERYTIME A SONG WAS PLAYED I JUST GOT THE CHILLS AND IT BROUGHT BACK MY SWEET MEMEORIES DE MI ABUELA. “SO EVEN YOU DIDNT KNOW WHO HECTOR LAVOE WAS I BET U DO NOW..
