  1. RE: el Museo
Our OWN building in El Barrio. Fifth Avenue is not important. People go to where the art is located. Plus El Museo in the heart of El Barrio would draw more cafes, bistros, shops…therefore, tourists.

Museums in great citys are located anywhere. This Museum Mile nonsense is exactly that…nonsense.

  2. The new Museo

I could not disagree with you more. The new BUILDING for the MUSEUM of AFRICAN ART is going up at the corner of 5th and 110th St.

We have come a long way….but abandoning Fifth Ave. AND Museum MIle would be a grave mistake for such a young and dynamic institution.

The job of “sparking” an urban renaissance INSIDE el Barrio was supposed to be Taller Boricua AND the Julia’s JOB. Look up the “Mission Statement” of Taller Boricua: it SPECIFICALLY calls for the economic development you mention. That they have failed to accomplish THAT is their own doing.

That is not the job of el Museo.

  3. el Nuevo Museo

el Nuevo Museo would have a Puertorican Executive Director, a Puertorican Chief Curator, a Puertorican Director of Education, a Puertorican Director of Development and

shows on Puertoricans, Mexicans, Cubans, Brazilians, Dominicans, and so on…
