  1. I was so sorry to hear about the loss of Dr Hidalgo – I was one of her students at the BSW program at Livingston College in the late 70’s. Her intelligence and compassion changed my life as well as Professor Aiko Kono and Professor Brenda Joyce. The BSW program was small and very unique and challenging. Hilda, Aiko and Brenda taught me so much . They were dynamic, creative and extraordinary leaders, all women and all persons of color. They that had the greatest impact on my life and what I have tried to do over the last 30 years in social work. I loved them very much and they were my mentors. Dr Hidalgo’s life, presence and teachings leave footprints for us to emulate.

  2. I was part of the B.S.W. program/community at Livingston College in the late 1970s. Dr. Hilda Hildalgo, along with Aiko Kono and Brenda Joyce transformed my life. They opened my eyes and saved my spirit in this trying world. My love goes out to them all. And Dr. Hildalgo lives on in the hearts and minds of the people she taught, touched, and tended to.

  3. I was saddened, as well, to hear of the passing of Dr. Hilda Hidalgo. I, too, was a B.S.W. student at Livingston College in the 1970s, and echo the sentiments of my classmates, Elaine Downes and Mike Szewczyk. My experience in the program transformed my life as well. I would not have become the person I am today, personally or professionally, without the compassion, support, instruction, and guidance of Dr. Hildalgo, Professor Aiko Kono, and Professor Brenda Joyce. Rest in peace, Dr. Hidalgo.
