Friends
play matchmaker, trying to bring two polar opposites into the mix, and ultimately
succeed. After a lot of persuasion and strong resistance, during which the
audience is exposed to some heady discourses on herstory, queer theory
and lesbian peer pressure, the unlikely singles finally come together and
the union seems made in heaven. This is a narrative feature that attempts
to deal with heavy issues in a light comedic manner. Lesbian life is revealed
in a way not hitherto seen in Nuyorican or American cinema. The film is
visually highly-textured with an inventive symbology. Watch for the Boricua
family scene. |
